I have windows 10, i download embroidery designs, you have to pick a format which is jef, i download them into an Embroidery file then a file fir the company I brought them from. They go automatically to adobe reader which wont read them, if I change them to word they wont encode they and unreadable, microsoft spent hours remote looking but.

Some machines will not 'see' a design if you do not have that hoop size chosen in your software, or do not have a big enough hoop.The first thing to check is do you have the hoop size needed - if you have a 5x7 hoop, you will not be able to see designs for 6x10 or 8x8 hoops. I was able to run it on Xubuntu 8.04 by installing mono-runtime, libmono-microsoft8.0-cil and libmono-winforms2.0-cil. It still needs a few tweaks to make all the graphical elements look right when running on Mono. (Most Linux distributions have Mono packages available in their repositories) Under Linux and Mac, Embroidery Reader may run on Mono. NET Framework 4.0 to be installed in order to run.
The next 4 characters tell what version the file is.As of version 1.3.0, the PES number doesn’t really matter. If you open one in a text editor like notepad, the first 4 characters will be #PES. Thanks to Ryan Lovett for testing Embroidery Reader on Mac and also testing it with Monodevelop.PES files are used to store designs for some embroidery machines. It will build on Ubuntu (and Mac, I assume) using Monodevelop.
